Da poche ore sono stati divulgati i punteggi che ogni anno Jim Murray’s pubblica nella sua Whisky Bible, quest’anno nell’edizione del 2017.
Al di là dei risultati che tra poco pubblicherò, ci tenevo al mio consueto parere personale e cioè che il vincitore è Jim Murray; ancora una volta. Sì perché riesce sempre a far parlare di sè stupendo il pubblico, i suoi fedeli ed affezionati lettori, la stampa, il pubblico e tutti quanti girano e seguono il mondo del Whisky.
Ha stupito tutti quando diede la vittoria come miglior Whisky al mondo un Giapponese (Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013) e ci rendemmo conto (io per ultimo, tanti più esperti e capaci di me se ne erano già resi conto da tempo) che il Whisky non è solo Scozia.
Stupì ancora quando l’anno scorso lo scettro del Miglior Whisky fu dato alla Distilleria canadese Gimli col suo Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye edition.
Quest’anno il Miglior Whisky al Mondo è l’Americano Booker’s Rye 13 anni (punteggio di 97.5/100) frutto di un esperimento di Booker Noe (il nipote di Jim Beam) presso la distilleria di famiglia a Clermont (Kentucky), poco prima della sua morte avvenuta nel 2004.
Questi risultati, Giappone, Canada, America… porta solo ad una conclusione, un fatto ormai certo e su cui non è possibile discutere o avere dubbi: il Whisky buono non è solo Scozzese, ormai in tutto il mondo è possibile fare prodotti di altissimo livello (basta volerlo)
